Sander De Cuyper and Bram Dobbelaere founded Cie Pol & Freddy in 2006.
A shared love of innovative juggling, street theater and absurd humor led to the creation of “Ready!”, a crazy show in and around a tiny car.
In 2013, Gab Bondewel joined the duo for the creation of ‘Le Cirque Démocratique de laBelgique’. This humorous exploration of the limits of democracy and audience participation was performed exactly 365 times between its premiere in 2013 and its final performance in 2019.
In the next creation, ‘De Cuyper vs. De Cuyper’, the juggling brothers Sander and Jordaan competed against each other. After 390 performances, this production played its final show in Hong Kong in the fall of 2025.
Who is Pol, who is Freddy, who is Sander?
Sander De Cuyper is an avid self-taught club juggler. His hobby has gotten completely out of hand, and he has been performing on all kinds of stages for more than 25 years now.
Sander has created performances with Cie EaEo, Pol & Freddy, Cirq'ulation Locale, ShakeThat, Kopergieterij, and Side Show. In each of these productions, juggling and object manipulation are approached in a new way and form the basis of Sander's portfolio.
Throughout his creations, De Cuyper trains himself in other disciplines: physical theater, slapstick, cocktail shaking, and object theater. These techniques are always primarily an excuse to reach, surprise, confuse the audience...
In “Panic Ludic,” Sander attempts to conspire with the audience to confront everyday ugliness and defeatism.
